Chess tactics puzzles

A mixed set of tactics from real games: forks, pins, discovered attacks, deflections, mates and everything in between. You are not told the theme, just like in a real game.

Mixed puzzles are the best practice because they train recognition: noticing that a tactic exists at all.

How to spot it

• Check every check, capture and threat before anything else.
• Look for loose pieces and an exposed king.
• If the first idea fails, ask what one extra move would make it work.
