ChessKite Terms of Service
Last updated 1 November 2026
These terms apply to ChessKite (formerly Scroll Chess and ChessFeed): the website at chesskite.com and the Android app. By using ChessKite you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
The short version: ChessKite is free. Play fair, pick a decent username, and don't try to break the service. We will do our best to keep it running, but we can't promise it will always be available or perfect.
The service
ChessKite gives you chess puzzles in a scrolling feed, a puzzle rating, daily puzzles, timed runs with leaderboards, games against the computer, an analysis board, and articles about chess. It is free to use, with no ads. We may add, change or remove features at any time.
Your account
- You can use ChessKite as a guest. A guest account lives in your browser or on your phone, so clearing that data or losing the phone can lose your progress. Signing in with Google keeps it safe.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use ChessKite.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account. Keep your Google account secure.
- You can delete your account at any time, as described on the Delete account page.
Usernames
Your username is shown on leaderboards and in friend search. Do not pick a name that is offensive, hateful or sexual, that pretends to be someone else, or that advertises something. We may change or remove a username that breaks this rule.
Fair play
Ratings and leaderboards only mean something if everyone solves puzzles themselves. While solving rated puzzles, the Daily or timed runs, do not use a chess engine, another person, or any program that finds or plays moves for you. Do not use bots or scripts to submit results.
The analysis board and "play the computer" use an engine on purpose, and using them is fine. Just don't use them on a puzzle you are being scored on.
If results look like cheating, we may remove them, reset a rating, or remove an account from leaderboards, without warning.
Things you must not do
- Try to break into, overload or disrupt ChessKite or its servers.
- Access other people's accounts or data.
- Copy ChessKite's data in bulk with automated tools, or use ChessKite to break the law.
We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms.
Content and credits
- Puzzles come from the Lichess puzzle database, which Lichess publishes for anyone to use.
- The computer opponent and analysis use Stockfish, which is free software under the GNU GPL version 3. Its licence and source details are published with the engine files.
- Everything else - the app, the website's design, the articles and the ChessKite name - belongs to ChessKite. You may share links to puzzles and articles freely.
No guarantees
ChessKite is provided "as is". We work to keep it accurate and online, but we do not promise that it will always be available, free of mistakes, or that your progress can never be lost. Chess news and articles are for general information and may contain errors.
Limit of liability
As far as the law allows, ChessKite and the people who run it are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, that comes from using or being unable to use ChessKite. Because the service is free, our total liability to you for anything is limited to zero rupees (or the lowest amount the law allows). Nothing in these terms limits rights that the law says cannot be limited.
Privacy
How we handle your information is explained in the Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change this page and the date at the top. Continuing to use ChessKite after that means you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India.
