ChessKite Privacy Policy
Last updated 21 October 2026
ChessKite (called Scroll Chess, then ChessFeed, until October 2026) is a feed of chess puzzles for Android and the web. This page explains what information the app collects, why, who can see it, and how to delete it. The short version: we keep what the puzzles, ratings and leaderboards need, show other players only what you choose to put on a leaderboard, and never sell anything or show ads.
What we collect
| Information | Why | Visible to others? |
|---|---|---|
| A random account ID, created the first time you open the app | So your rating and results are yours, including as a guest | No |
| If you sign in with Google: your email address, name and Google account ID | To sign you in, and to find your account again on a new phone | No |
| Username, if you pick one | Your name on leaderboards and in friend search | Yes |
| Country, only if you choose one | The country leaderboard. Never guessed from your location or IP address | Yes |
| Rating, streaks and puzzle counts | Choosing puzzles at your level, and the leaderboards | Rating and streaks, if you have a username |
| Results of rated puzzles, the Daily and timed runs: which puzzle, whether you solved it, how long it took, and whether you used the Android or web app | Calculating your rating fairly, and spotting results too fast to be genuine (anti-cheat) | Scores on leaderboards, if you have a username |
| Which puzzles you have already seen | So the feed does not repeat itself | No |
| Players you follow | Your friends leaderboard | No |
Some things stay on your phone and are never sent to us: your settings (board colours, sound, vibration), your Missed and Saved puzzle lists, and your progress while offline.
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera, and the app does not use advertising or analytics services.
Who processes it
We use a few service providers to run the app. They handle data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase hosts the database and handles sign-in.
- Google provides "Sign in with Google", if you use it.
- Expo delivers app updates. When the app checks for an update it sends a random installation ID, the app version and your device platform.
- Cloudflare hosts the web version and this page.
Like any online service, these providers may keep short-lived technical logs such as IP addresses to keep their systems running and secure.
We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account. Signing out does not delete anything: your account stays so you can sign back in.
Deleting your account
In the app: Profile → Delete account, then tap again to confirm. This deletes your account and everything listed above from our servers immediately, and clears your progress and puzzle lists on that phone. It cannot be undone.
Without the app: see Delete your ChessKite account.
Children
ChessKite is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
Terms
The rules for using ChessKite are in the Terms of Service.
